Giving Thanks

The other day, we went to get some groceries at a well-known grocery store and I was totally blown away. The Christmas decorations were already filling the isles! Hello??? What happened to Thanksgiving Day? Why no, or hardly any, decorations for such an important day, that yet has to come?

The past years, we have had Thanksgiving dinner at our home, with the entire family, but we did not have any decorations up. This year, with all the kids and grand babies living with us, I was thinking how nice it would be, to celebrate Thanksgiving Day in the appropriate atmosphere. Flowers, a beautiful centerpiece, or other items and ornaments, were what I had in mind, to adorn our living room.

I was even considering to put out one of those Thanksgiving gift baskets, filled with fruit and other gourmet foods. I know that sounds odd, but just consider how special that would look and it entices people to grab a piece of fruit and eat it. That would be a much healthier snack then the sweets they would normally go for.

Of course the exquisitely filled baskets would make an excellent gift as well. So do flowers. I know, should I be going to family and spend Thanksgiving Day with them, those would be the gifts I would bring. I know, I sure would love receiving them! :-)

Hi Lieve Zus

The Christmas deco is up in the malls too. It's a bit too early =)
