Sometimes, I receive an e-mail with facts which are way too funny, but sad at the same time. I have no reason to believe that the following facts were based on fiction and even though it is funny, it is food for thought as well.
According to the statistics of U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services; the number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000 and accidental deaths caused by physicians are 120,000 per year. This equates to 0.171 accidental deaths per physician.
According to the statistics of the FBI; the number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500, which is .000188 of accidental deaths per gun owner. So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
The fact is; not everyone has a gun, but almost everyone has at least one doctor. This means you are over 900 times more likely to be killed by a doctor then a gun owner!!!
The statistics on lawyers were wisely withheld for fear the shock would cause people to panic and.....
seek medical attention!
I thought it was quite inventive of the author, sifting through all the statistics and coming up with a fact based, creative project like this. That is very artistic!
