Wood Art - Scroll Saw II

Jigsaws have been around for quite a while, but the first powered jigsaw is not that old; it was invented in 1946 by Albert Kaufmann, who was an engineer for the Scintilla AG company in St. Niklaus, Switzerland.

Albert had the ingenious idea of replacing the needle on his wife's sewing machine with a saw blade and the powered scroll saw was born.

The Scintilla AG company company was later bought by Bosch who innovated and perfected the scroll saw. Nowadays, this piece of equipment is extremely popular among woodworkers, because of the ease of operation and the many options for cutting angles, curves, and other difficult designs.

You are certainly not restricted to only the scroll saw and its options; once you got your project cut out, you can embellish it with wood carvings tools and give it a more lifelike appearance.

There are many more applications after having used the scroll saw; you can paint it, or decorate it any way you like; just use your imagination. You got your work cut out for you!
