An interesting fact is that they were also referred to as Window Flower, because the paper cuts were used a lot for door and window decorations.

Paper cutting was mostly done by European women of the upper-class as well. Even though it required a lot of patience and time, this craft kept them busy during the long, dark evenings of winter.
If you have the patience and the time, I would suggest you try your hand at paper cutting. It is a cheap hobby and can have some amazing results!
