Epoxy Art

Most of us may know epoxy to be a strong adhesive or protective layer, but is also used as a coating for paintings and other artwork and, mixed with pigment, to create art with.

The layers are poured seperately on top of each other, allowing each layer to dry and harden properly. The use of different colors forms a gorgeous, 3D work of art.

Another application for epoxy is to pour a thick glossy clear coat over delicate creations, embedding them in it. An example for instance is a beautiful arrangement of shells, beads, buttons, flowers, gemstones, and so much more. Keep in mind that the background you choose will shine through as well.

I do want to warn you about working with epoxy; it is said to be the main source of occupational asthma. The hardener in epoxy resin can over time cause an allergic reaction. I suppose it would be wise to wear a mouth mask and make sure to ventilate well!
