Box Art

Did you get some chocolates for Valentine's Day in one of those cute heart-shaped boxes? I sure hope you did not throw the latter out; they come in handy for a craft project.

I had saved them for several years and never knew what to do with them, until recently. It suddenly occurred to me how cute it would be to have something to hang on the wall for each one of our grandchildren.

Small wooden figurines I had laying around worked well for our grandsons and a few other small trinkets I had kept came in handy for our granddaughter. A little cutting and gluing in 3D and mission accomplished!

That sparked another idea for a much larger candy box which had been sitting in the closet for a while.

I decided to display the symbols for love, hope and faith in it. Each symbol is crafted out of cardboard and/or wrapping foam, covered with a piece of left over fabric and embellished with some other things which came out of my craft closet.

In this case the boxes function as shadow boxes, but there are many more applications for them. As you can see; anything can be used for crafting. You just have to think outside the box!
