About Ian Berry aka Denimu

This beautiful work of art is not a painting. Upon taking a closer look, you will discover that artist Ian Berry made this master piece solely by utilizing the fabric taken from old jeans.

It is just one of the many intricate portraits and urban landscapes this young artist has created so far. His inspiration came from a pile of old jeans while cleaning up his room in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, UK, where he was born in 1984.

He had just returned home from the university in 2006, when he found himself looking at all those old jeans. They brought back many fond memories, but also instilled a love for the fabric and its many different shades of blue.

He saw the artistic potential in the denim fabric and began cutting, stitching, and gluing the various shades together forming contrasts and shadows. It was the start of his career as a denim artist and he later on changed his name into Denimu.

After his time at the Buckinghamshire Chilterns University, where he studied Graphic Design and Advertising, he worked as an art director in London and Sydney.

When his job became redundant he moved from Australia to Sweden and devoted himself fully to his art and with great success I may add.

His 'jeanius' creations are a smashing hit all over the world!
