Plastic Bag Art
In the Netherlands you bring your own shopping bags which are mostly made out of sturdy fabric to put all your purchased items in and I really had to get used to all the groceries being put in plastic bags at the check out here.
What to do with all those plastic grocery bags? I usually save several of them, because they can come in handy, but I would have never thought of reusing them for crafts.
That is one great idea and I came across so many creative solutions for these bags; it was uncanny!
Who would have imagined jewelry made from plastic bags would look so beautiful?
A necklace like this isn't hard to make either, but there are also bracelets and earrings which can be fabricated out of this material.
Another excellent option to reuse the bags is making plarn (plastic yarn) out of them and using it to knit or crochet with.
That opens up many more options, such as this rug, welcome mats, purses, stuffed animals, hats, and even all kinds of other garments.
I will get around on how to make plarn in another post, so bear with me. In the mean time, you can always use the plastic bags to create wall art by cutting out colorful parts and gluing them together as a collage.
So, next time you are left holding the bag, use your imagination and think of all the projects you can make with it!
