Rembrandt van Rijn's Economical Impact

Rembrandt's work can be found in many museums all over the world and in private collections.

Nowadays, you can already own a Rembrandt for next to nothing by purchasing all kinds of products that have either a painting, self portrait, drawing or etching from this famous artist on it.

Those items range from mugs, calendars, T-shirts, stamps, posters and much more, to reproductions of his handiwork and the sale of those souvenirs and memorabilia have turned out being a million dollar business each year.

The house Rembrandt bought in 1639 in Amsterdam at the age of 33 and where he made a great deal of his artwork had to be sold in 1660 and Rembrandt was forced to move.

Even though an upper story and roof were added by the next owner, the house is preserved in 1911 by the Dutch movement as an example of 17th Century Dutch architecture and in honor of Rembrandt and was turned in to the Rembrandt House Museum.

Rembrandt van Rijn certainly put the Netherlands on the map concerning the world of art, if that hadn't already been done by his predecessors, and draws many tourists each year.
