Cans were already in use for a much longer period of time and not only for storing food, but also for drinks. The early soda cans called for a special key, the so called 'churchkey', to open the can.
The churchkey looked like a bottle opener, but had a sharp point which would pierce at triangle in the can. You would have to punch two holes opposite of each other to be able to drink the beverage.
The problem with this was however that if you didn't have or lost the churchkey, you had to come up with another quick solution to quench your thirst. That contributed to Fraze's invention hitting the jackpot.

The modern pull tabs have many more uses then just opening a soda can. Take a look at what all can be fabricated with them.
Don't be surprised when you see all the projects they are used for. It may be a tedious task to sift through them and decide what you like to create.
