Jeans Art - Materials and Equipment

Since there is no lack of denim, you probably don't have to scramble in order to get an adequate amount of jeans material together for your projects. Even if you don't have enough yet, at second hand stores you can buy some jeans apparel for next to nothing.

A pair of scissors, needle and thread or a sewing machine is needed for most of the projects. In case you are not very handy when it comes to sewing, maybe someone in the family can lend a helping hand with that.

Fabric paint is an excellent way of adorning the garments or projects with all kinds of images and should you want to try your hand at bleaching, dive in to your cleaning supplies and bring out the bleach. A word of caution though: be careful not to let the bleach sit too long on the fabric, because it will weaken the denim and as a result it will tear very easily.

Scrape up anything you may have lying around and/or have saved over the years. Beads, emblems, paisleys, different colors of yarn and other items you can sew on, are great for creating all kinds of jeans projects.

There are instructions for bleaching images on denim and I also found lots of examples for other projects online. No instruction books and workshops though, but you should have no lack of ideas.

Oh... I LOVE denim very much. I wear a denim skirt almost every time when I go out :) Denims are expensive in Europe.

Yeah it is expensive there. You ought to move, hehe.

God's Grace.
