Key Art Ideas

There are plenty of ideas for recycling old keys. Giving them to your (grand) children for playing is one option, but using them for arts and crafts opens up an entire new world of possibilities.

Some great projects can be seen in my previous posts about key art. Those are just the tip of the iceberg. I have also seen keys in bottles which make intriguing displays and bookstands which were made with and/or out of large skeleton keys.

If you are more into jewelry making then you will find that the tiny keys are excellent for earrings or bracelets.

With a key, wire, a pair of pliers, and some colored beads, you can already create a beautiful work of art.

If you so desire you can even frame it and hang it in a prominent place, but that is not even necessary. It would already be an eye-catcher all by itself.

While thinking about some projects, it occurred to me how those large skeleton keys would be ideal for fabricating a one of a kind clock.

Clock mechanisms are cheap and can easily be bought in craft stores and possibly even in home improvement stores.

I would love to hear some of your ideas. Why not share them and help in unlocking the door to more key art!
