Aluminum Foil Art II
Were you aware of the fact that aluminum foil already exists, and has been used for almost a century? I didn't, but it seems that the first aluminum foil made its entrance in 1910 (in 1913 in the U.S.) and replaced tin foil.
The tin foil was introduced in the late 19th century and was mainly used for wrapping food. Unfortunately the food took on a slight tin-taste, which was one of the reasons for a good replacement.
I am glad they did, because the previous tin foil was a lot less pliable then the current foil made out of aluminum. It could have caused us having to miss out on such great creativity with this material.
As you can see, the foil lends itself very well to be shaped and bend in almost any type of form. I think it is a good and safe activity to do with children as well.
Shine your own light on this topic. I am sure you will come up with a luminous, aluminum piece of art!
