Ice Cream Stick Art II
Since freezers and refrigerators haven't been around that long, you can imagine neither have the popsicles, but did you know they have been around since 1922?
The invention of ice cream on a stick occurred by accident in 1905 by and 11 year old boy by the name of Frank Epperson in San Francisco.
After having left a glass soda water powder, water and a wooden stir stick outside on the back porch, it froze overnight. When Frank found it the next morning, he also discovered he could run the glass under hot water, remove and eat the frozen soda water while holding the stick.
He introduced the frozen treats in 1922 to the public and in 1923 Frank patented his Epsicle ice lollipops and re-named them Popsicles; a name which is said to be invention by his children.
On an annual basis; in just the US, over a billion frozen lollipops are consumed and even though there are at least 30 flavors to choose from, orange and cherry are widely preferred over the rest.
Imagine how many projects you can create with a billion ice cream sticks. Yeah, more then you can shake a stick at!
