Fondant Art - Materials and Equipment

There are several different types of fondant; basic fondant, butter cream fondant, and marsh mallow fondant. No matter which one you intend to use, there are recipes for each one of them all over the Internet.

You don't have to go through all the trouble of making your own, because ready to use fondant can already be bought in boxes and/or tubs. You can order boxes with multiple colors of fondant in them, or purchase a tub with just one single shade of this sweet substance.

I suspect we can find the very basic materials we need for making fondant already in our kitchen drawers, like a rolling pin and cookie cutters.

Those of you who make/use fondant on several occasions may benefit by a fondant cake smoother and a fondant modeling toolset and the experts among us would probably benefit and find a good use for a fondant paste press machine.

Don't forget the food coloring, because it is an essential part of the entire process.

There are some helpful instruction books and videos around and you can find several examples online on how to mold and sculpt all kinds of items, or you can go the easy route and buy fondant molds.

You may even want to check into workshops in and around your area; those will certainly teach you the trait of the trade!
