Broom Straw Art Materials and Equipment

The easiest way acquiring broom straw for crafts would be online, where you can purchase it by the pack and the prices vary from around $5 to $8, depending on length and color.

Should you be too impatient to wait for it to arrive at your doorstep then of course you can always go to a craft store or another retailer where you can buy a ready made broom. The latter however means you would have to go through the trouble of taking it apart before you are able to use the broom straw/broom corn.

When you intend to use it for weaving, you don't need anything else but your hands. If you have making dolls in mind, you probably need a pair of scissors and string. Since broom straw is a natural material, it would be fitting to use waxed jute or hemp string for your (decorative) projects.

I found several craft books with broom straw projects and instructions in them, but none specifically and entirely dedicated to this hobby.

The Internet has all kinds of examples and instructions at your disposal though and it wouldn't hurt to check those out. Give it a try; should your project go haywire you can always make a broom out of it!
