Another Form Of Trolls
I was not aware of it, but it seems like the term 'troll' has taken on another meaning with the introduction of the Internet and the ability to post comments on social networks.
Some people seem to enjoy leaving disturbing, annoying, and/or rude comments and due to that attitude they have been categorized as trolls. You probably know what I mean, since you may already have been confronted with some of them.
There are some good hints and tips on what you can do and how to deal with trolls. A good start is setting specific rules and guidelines for those who comment, but that may not be sufficient or scare them off. It could well have the opposite effect in which case these tips might be of some help.
- Knowing a troll is out to attack and provoke, don't give them the satisfaction of getting your goat. Stay calm, relaxed, and cool.
- Refrain from retaliating through words. They are experts in what they do and will have the upper hand.
- To them it is a game, but you don't have to respond. Simply ignoring the comments, or kindly thanking them for sharing their opinion takes all the fun out of it and may be enough for them to move on.
I suppose they are trying to establish the character again that trolls had in the first place; mean, and out to do harm. I hope they don't succeed; there is already enough in life to content with as it is!
