Second Ice festival In Jerusalem

You may have heard about the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival in China, but did you know Jerusalem has its own ice festival?

It does. It took China's famous event as a role-model for the first time last year and instantly became a smashing success.

This year, the second, international Jerusalem Ice Festival is held between February 20 and April 30, 2013, in the Old Railway Station in Jerusalem. The festival has to take place inside, because the winters in Jerusalem are usually rather mild and not dependable enough to guarantee that the ice-sculptures will stay in tact.

In an artificially kept, bone-chilling temperature of 14F (-10C), you can admire ice sculptures of Jerusalem’s major sites, other world cities landmarks, popular fairy tales, and Biblical stories by 35 artists who came from all over the world. Many already earned their spurs at China's ice festival where they worked previously.

There is also an ice skating rink, a concert area, an ice bar, acrobatics show, and the displays are connected by ice slides of which the children can make good use. It is fun and entertainment for the entire family. Tickets cost less then $18 per person, regardless age, and can even be purchased online.

You never can soak up enough art and in case you are in the neighborhood, pay it a visit!
