CD Art II

The projects you can use CDs for are endless. It is a good craft for kids as well to bring their fantasies and imagination to life. The picture on the left gives some good examples of what all can be done with an old CD, craft glue and some felt.

In these examples the entire CD is covered. I usually leave the shiny part uncovered and just glue some paper or material over the little circle in the middle or hide it with something else, like in this creation on the right.

Before you start on your main project, make sure to do the back first; the best way to cover the back with material is to distribute the glue evenly on the 'wrong' side of the disk, press the glue side on to the material, let it dry and then cut around the edge of the CD.

When you use a glue gun it can happen that some of the glue may mess up the reflecting, 'good' side. No problem, carefully scratch off the excessive glue with either your finger nails or a small piece of wood and polish it up with a tack cloth. Even tiny scratches will become invisible and you will end up with a work of art that shines like a mirror.

Don't use a sharp metal object to remove the glue; if you do, you will have to face the music!
