Thomas Kinkade Passed Away

I was rather shocked to hear about the passing away of one of the greatest painters of our time; Thomas Kinkade.

Known as 'The painter of light', Thomas died last Friday, April 6th, 2012, at his home in Los Gatos, California. He apparently died of natural causes and was only 54 years old.

Thomas was loved and also hated by many; loved by the millions who admired his work and have some of his artwork hanging on their walls and hated by fellow artists, who couldn't stand the way he commercialized his work by selling reproductions and other products portraying his art.

The legacy of Thomas Kinkade includes over more than 1,000 paintings, varying from cabins, homes, churches, nature scenes, seascapes, classic Americana, and religious images.

His paintings are easily recognized due to the warm colors, tranquility, and the transcendent light reflecting from his work which gave Thomas his nickname 'painter of light'.

I hereby offer my condolances to his family. Thomas was a wonderful artist and will be missed by many!
