Packaging Tape Art - Materials and Equipment
I honestly had no idea of the wide array of colors available pertaining to packaging tape, but I know better now.
The choice is enormous and not only color-wise, but also width-wise. It can be purchased from a half to two inches and the material from which it is fabricated can be either cellophane, acrylic, fiberglass, silicone, foil, rubber, paper, double-sided, Velcro-sided, with foam on the back, or reinforced.
When you need a lot of it, you can buy it in bulk in large coils, instead of the regular rolls we find in the stores, but it also comes in convenient strips and dots. It may be easier to use an adhesive tape dispenser for your projects; those shouldn't be hard to find either.
Both packaging tape and dispensers are quickly found online and in case you need some direction concerning ideas; there are craft books and online instructions and examples.
Besides tape, there is not much else you need, although a pair of scissors may come in handy, but you may not even need that when you use a tape dispenser.
I have not tried my hand at this art, but it seems like a little practice and a whole lot of determination might be in order. In other words: stick with it!
