The Art Of Sneaking Out

Sometimes comprehensive coverage is no luxury. Take our oldest grandson for instance; he is not even three years of age, but as sharp as a whip.

While sleeping over at his grandma's he woke up around 5 AM the other morning, got up, found his daddy's car keys and headed out the door. He knows how to lock and unlock doors; without a latch they are no obstacle for him.

Once outside, he went to his grandma's car and took his seat behind the wheel, stuck the key in the ignition and cranked the car. The car started rolling and came to a stand still against one of the pillars of the house.

The minor collision caused his daddy to wake up and he found his son sitting in the car, unfazed by all of it. Little critter was fine, but the car ended up with some major scratches and the damage was worse then we thought. It had a slight dent and a substantial amount of paint was scraped off.

I sure hope his daddy's car insurance will cover the costs of repairs; otherwise it could turn out to be a costly escapade, even though it was short lived. I suppose our grandson didn't like the paint job and decided to enhance it with some of his own artwork.

It sure was a wake up call teaching us to put our car keys up safe and sound when this little guy is around. Even though he enjoyed his ride, we don't want to give him an opportunity for another joyride!
