Play Along

A good pianist who can play along with the vocalist can make or break a performance. Not everyone has the expertise or the ability to either accompany a singer or both play and sing themselves at the same time.

There are so many people with beautiful voices, but unfortunately I am not one of them. When I sing, the birds instantly drop dead from the rooftops. Since I don't want to be held responsible for whacking out the majority of our feathered friends I don't even make an attempt anymore producing sounds which resemble a song.

It is sad when you have a really great voice and the pianist is not very accomplished in accompaniment. It messes up the entire song and the voice gets completely lost. You may have experienced or witnessed a similar situation yourself. It is quite embarrassing.

It does not have to be that way; it can be learned and practice makes perfect. Once you have mastered it you will admit that it not only is a great addition to your musical performance, but also a wonderful art!
