Hospital Art

Hospital walls are usually crisp and white. I suspect it represents hygiene and a clean, disinfected environment. Most of the times though, it comes across as very impersonal and boring and it certainly does not have to be that way.

The latter was shown in one of the hospitals in our area; its white, crispy clean walls were covered with every style of paintings you can imagine. I saw framed reproductions of Thomas Kinkade, modern art, works from well known older painters and even children's creations.

Most of the art was found in and around the main entrance, but even the halls of the other floors which I had to be on, were spruced up with several creations. It was refreshing, seeing how they tried to accommodate both patients and visitors by putting up this variety of paintings.

There is always something around which appeals to someone's taste. Yeah, they did more then try, they made it work!
