Leaf Art II

Looking at the leaf in this photo, you may think there is a light source behind it which shines through the leaf to highlight the image. Nope, that is not the case. This is one of the latest arts which is becoming more and more popular: leaf cutting.

The image is actually cut out in the leaf. You could compare it to linoleum cutting; removing layer by layer of the leaf around the image, until the desired effect is reached.

This is the first time I have ever seen it and I find it incredible and very unique. It must take an enormous amount of patience to accomplish this effect; a leaf is extremely thin and I anticipate that it does not take much breaking the leaf and having to start all over again. It is gorgeous though!

Another cute project with leaves is prodding children to be creative and use their imagination. With all the different sizes, shapes and colors, many surprisingly, artistic projects might sprout from their minds, like this little mouse.

Collecting leaves for projects like this would kill two birds with one stone; you would have a relaxing time outdoors looking for them and it makes for an entertaining and enjoyable hobby.

Keep one thing in mind though, when looking for leaves: leaves of three, let them be!
