Crochet Art - Materials and Equipment

Crochet hooks are manufactured in many different sizes and the size of the hook in combination with the thickness of the yarn, determines the look and size of your project.

Most hooks are made out of plastic or steel, but they can also be fabricated from bone, bamboo, aluminum, and sometimes they are even hand crafted from wood and even decorated with gemstones or beads.

Getting started is simple: a crochet hook and yarn are essential and patterns and instructions for all the different stitches are easily found online.

There are also many books on crochet available and even complete crochet starter kits can be purchased as well.

For those of you who don't like knitting, like Yours Truly, crocheting is a very good alternative; it is fast, easy to do, and still leaves lots of opportunities to incorporate your own creativity!
