Surfboard Art - Materials and Equipment

A plain surfboard is the best foundation to start with. You may have some unused ones in your storage building or garage and if you don't, ask family and friends or try buying them cheap in yard sales or second hand stores.

Wooden surfboards can be hand carved, wood burned or painted. You will need knives, gauges, chisels, V-tools and veiners for the carving and wood burning equipment for the images.

As far as paint goes, you will need brushes, paint and sandpaper and make sure to use paint which adheres well to polyester if you don't have a wooden, but a polyester surfboard.

You will find some surfboard art projects and ideas on the Internet, but for the most part you will have to use your own imagination, creativity and skills to bring your project to life.

It is rather easy making tables or shelving from surfboards; for the first you will need either table legs or a base which you can fabricate yourself in any shape and form you like or fits in with your interior design.

Shelving has many options; use the entire board or cut it in half length-wise and use that as shelf, or boards can be used to uphold shelves. How about using a surfboard as seating for a unique bench on your patio?

It is waterproof!
