Mermaid Art

I saw this in the media yesterday and couldn't pass up the opportunity to bring it to your attention. For ten days, from August 1st until August 10th, you can admire this 12 foot tall, floating artwork in Alster Lake, Hamburg, Germany.

The sculpture consists of three pieces and is created by Oliver Voss who is an artist as well as an advertising executive and head of an advertising academy.

The sculpture is titled "Giant Mermaid" and caused some commotion; first of all, a lot of people couldn't appreciate the lake being portrayed as a giant bathtub and secondly, if it is supposed to resemble a mermaid, then why does it have legs?

The latter is a good question and a lot of water may go under the bridge before we find out. I have to admit; it is creative!
