Tickle Monster

Lil' Kc is at that age, where you can actually teach him things and he understands. He has always been someone, who loved to make people laugh. So, what better to learn than how to make them laugh by.... tickling!

If you wonder, who taught him that, yours truly is guilty as charged. I would, and do, tickle lil' Kc and would say: "Tickle, tickle, tickle" and make him laugh so loud, till he would pee on himself. Even though the last is just an expression, I would not be surprised if it was true, haha.

The other day, I thought it was time for him to learn to tickle. I took his little hand and showed him how to do it. He caught on so fast, it was amazing and went from one to the other, tickling their sides, saying: "Teeteetee".

I managed to get him to do it to his little brother a couple of times. Lil' Leo laughed his little head off. Yeah, Leo will be taught as well. Although... maybe not such a good idea.

There is no already hardly any defense against one little tickle-monster, let alone two! Grin.

Too Quiet

It is quiet in our home. Too quiet. The kids left the house and decided to live with son-in-law's grandparents for a while.

As far as their plans for the future go, there is no telling yet. At the moment, they are considering selling their trailer and eventually moving into an apartment.

They are shooting for a 3-room apartment, so the boys can each have their own space. The rent is pretty high though and we are not really sure if it would be such a good idea financial wise. But, they have to live their own lives and make their own decisions. All we can do is give advice.

We miss the boys. Not that we can not see them. We can, any time we like. So, we should not complain. There are many grand parents and even parents, who do not get to see them at all.

But in the mean time, it is quiet.

Sand Art Tools and Supplies

Sand art is really a fun hobby to do. Anyone can do it and it lends itself well for a kid's activity. There is not much you need for it. Paper or bottles, double sided sticky paper and sand.

The paper can be any kind. From craft paper to simple copy paper and the sand comes in a wide array of colors.

As far as bottles goes, you can buy decorative one in any craft store, but look in your fridge, kitchen cabinets and bathroom. You may find some that are very suitable and decorative. Rinse them well and let them dry.

For those of you who like to really get in to it, there are lots of tools that may come in handy. They are not too hard to find either. If the craft store would not have them, an online search would certainly yield the desired results.

Have fun and if you like, share some of your (or your kids) creations!

The Bugs

Yup, it was impossible to avoid. We all are sick now, including myself. I had hoped to escape it, how silly of me. There was no way.

By the time we found out the boys had a cold virus, the bugs had already clung themselves to everyone around and were taking them down one by one. Oh well, such is life.

I do hope the babies will get well soon. They have no way to point out what is bugging, or hurting, and have no clue what would be the best thing for them to do. Us, the grown-ups, we do what we can, to get over it as comfortable and as quick as possible.

May God grant us all a quick and full recovery, especially our grand babies.

Another Virus

Both our grand sons are sick. They ran a fever yesterday and the day before and some runny noses, which we tried to catch, were present as well.

A doctor's visit learned, there is a virus going around that might take a couple of weeks to heal. Nothing can be done about it, but to let it run it's course.

Couple that with a few teeth coming in and you can imagine that neither one of the boys is in his element.

Poor little critters, I so hope it will all pass soon.

Sand Art Bottles and Cards

I have worked with colored sand myself and made some pretty cards with it. Of course, you can buy decorative bottles and fill them up with the colors that tickle your fancy or match your interior. They make nice gifts as well.

For making the cards, I would craft paper, that sticks on both sides, draw an image on it, peel off one side of the protective paper and stick it on the card. Next, I would gently cut along the drawing lines, remove each piece of paper that would get the same color sand and sprinkle the sand on the sticker. I would repeat this until the image was complete.

If you are not that crafty, don't worry. Supplies and pre-cut stickers for creating cards can be found and bought online for very reasonable prices.

Sand Art

Sand comes in many colors and lends itself for beautiful art. The video below shows you one of the forms of art, created with it. Take a look, it is well worth it.

I find this pretty amazing, but not all of us have this gift. I am one of them and for us, there are much simpler creations, which even I can do and did, with colored sand. I will tell you all about how and what in my next art-posts. Working with sand is fun and also a great activity to do with children. Just make sure to have the vacuum cleaner handy afterwards! :-) See also: Sand Art Bottles And Art Sand Art Tools And Supplies

Annoying Delight

Both our grandsons have their little quirks. They are cute, but every now and then.....

Lil' Leo loves his jumper. He can jump up and down for minutes at the time. It is fun to watch and even encourage him. We get a huge smile as a reward. So, what is the big deal? The penetrating, creaky noise that jumper makes!

Lil' Kc loves music. His little car can play two songs, the Muffin Man and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Apparently, the Muffin Man has his preference. No surprise, since he loves eating, haha. So, he plays it over and over again.

Would it surprise you if I told you, that at times, we wished that creaking, jumping Muffin Man would take a hike and got lost???

Then again, even when it gets annoying at times, their fun is our delight. :-)

Sigh

I apologize. I had wanted to find another artist, or form of art, to post about. I just don't seem to get around to it.

There is always something else, that demands my attention. That in itself is not so bad, were it not for the fact that it wears me out. Mentally and emotionally I am so drained, which has it's effect on my physical state. The worst thing is... a lot of times I do it to myself and others suffer. Yikes!

About a week ago, I was at the point where I needed a break. Now, I need a break through. Either way, I am pretty much exhausted. Oh well, God gives what is needed, when it is needed. If I would just not be so afraid, to choose to accept, what He gives! Sigh.

Junk Mail

The mail had run and I had opened a letter, leaving the envelope in my lap. When I was done, lil' Kc stood in front of me, watching what I was doing. His eyes were one big question mark.

I handed him the envelope and a small advertisement brochure, that came in it. He took and said: : "Junk"! We couldn't help but laugh and wondered how he knew??

Well, it was very understandable, after his Mommy explained to us, that her husband calls all mail 'junk'. Aha!

It is so cute to see, how the little ones reflect and take on their parents example. Dangerous as well. We really have to watch what we do and say. Especially if we want to be a good example. :-)

But... lil' Kc was right. It was junk-mail! :-)

Critter's Ramblings II

Hey you guys!!!

I hope you had a great Halloween, me and Leo did. We were all dressed up and I liked my little outfit a lot. So much, that I wanted to wear it the day after as well. Mom let me for a few, but then she said we had to put it away. I got really upset about that and did not want to take it off. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

I bet you would like to know what we were dressed up as. Ready?

I was an itsy-bitsy spider!

Leo was a little pumpkin!

Don't we look cute? Of course I had to do what little spiders do. I climbed in and up everything. I managed to get on Leo's jumper.

Leo didn't mind. He was on the floor, trying to grow roots, or find his pumpkin patch. I am not sure which. Whatever it was, he thought it was funny.

We went trick or treating and got candy and chocolate. Too many sugary things, but they were sooo good. Man, what a rush, hehe. We did not get a lot of it, because we get all hyped up from all those sweets and won't sleep.

I can understand now, why Opa and Oma always get such a rush and are hyped up when me and my little bro are around.

We are too sweet! grin.

Make It Work

Uh oh, what happens when you think the bathroom door is closed and you put down a 20 month old boy for a nap, who loves to go exploring??? Yup, you guessed it.... you end up with a mess.

Lil' Kc was supposed to go down for a nap, but ventured out, somehow got the bathroom door open and stuffed a whole role of toilet-paper in the toilet bowl. He really tried to 'flush' it, by using the toilet brush to push it down and make it disappear.

Well, that did not really work and his Daddy had to go fish for the parts and pieces. It is working again. Another lesson learned. Make sure doors are really closed by checking them.

I can't help but wonder what else he may have 'flushed' that we don't know about? We may suspect, when something is missing.

I got to hand it to him. He sure knows what things are for and how they are supposed to work. And if they don't work, how to give them a hand.

The little rascal. :-)

Speed Demon

Little Leo is getting around in his walker, like he has never done anything else before. He speeds, turns corners, makes a 180 degree turn and.... runs down everything and anything in his path. Yup, even us!

He is a curious little critter as well and follows us around. Actually, he 'heels' us. Before you know it, your ankles are bruised, or you stumble over the outer rim of the walker.

The other day, while preparing supper, I didn't hear him. He kind of sneaked up on me. I realized he was right behind me, when I felt the pain in my heel. He bumped right into me. Ouch..., I turned around and looked straight in to his big smiling little face.

Needless to say how quick the pain faded! :-)
