Salt and Pepper Shaker Art - Materials and Equipment

I suppose any material is fine. Polymer Clay, wood, aluminum or other metals and even simple, glass shakers you can pick up for a dime in the stores.

The latter can be painted in which case you would need some paint and brushes. For all the other handcrafted salt and pepper shakers, you will need all the equipment in order to fabricate them.

You will also need a small drill for the holes in the top of the shakers and two rubber, plastic or cork stoppers for the bottom (yes, don't forget that there needs to be an opening somewhere in the shakers to refill them), and it may be a good idea, depending on the used materials, to seal them with a water resistant coating.

Your work of art can be anything and sometimes less is more as you can see in this picture. It does not have to cost much either; I even came across salt and pepper shakers which were made out of small gourds.

Salt and pepper shakers are boring??? I take that with a pinch of salt! :-)
